After jockeying for position, the top-10 companies in the Medicare Advantage segment at the beginning of 2006 all remained at the top through September. UnitedHealth maintained its commanding lead, while Humana, with an 84% growth rate, overtook Kaiser for the number two spot. Together, these three firms enlarged their lead on the competition, accounting for 45% of all MA members at the end of the quarter.
