Event Ticket Sales Launch on Drupal Website

Kehila Chadasha is a Jewish congregation in the Washington, DC, area that opens its High Holiday services to nonmembers for a modest donation. The donations support the work of the group's Rabbi in the greater Jewish community throughout the year.

Ticket orders were opened on Aug. 1 with the launch of the High Holidays section of the group's website. We organized the materials for publication on the Internet and created a linked menu for them, using Drupal modules to facilitate publication. We also integrated the informational materials with a Drupal e-commerce solution allowing guests to make their donations using credit cards. In addition, we created and uploaded PDF forms that can be filled out, printed and mailed.

The ticket sales section of the site is available only during the High Holiday season.

Research on funding sources for a nonprofit

The Values Group's client is a start-up nonprofit in Michigan. We researched potential sources of grant funding, including state and local government programs as well as community, public, and private foundations. Of nearly 200 foundations researched, we selected eight organizations whose funding priorities and interests match the nonprofit's objectives.

Deductions for Donations from Tax-Deferred IRAs

One potential source of contributions sometimes overlooked in charities' fundraising campaigns is donations of assets from individual retirement accounts. Under the Pension Protection Act of 2006, eligible donors can get a tax break on these contributions if all the IRS rules are followed to a T.

Drupal Calendar

This assignment was to create a calendar for a nonprofit website that could be viewed by year, month or week.

The website CMS is in Drupal 6.12. The Calendar was created using Views. The year view is an HTML list with links to more information about the events. The month view is a calendar showing event titles that link to more information. The week view shows the time and event title.

The calendar is available at www.e-kehila.com/drupal/calendar.

Documentation for creating a Drupal Views calendar is available on request. Click on Contact and send us an email if you're interested.

An introduction to receiving tax-deductible contributions

U.S. tax laws say that a donor can take a charitable contribution deduction for any transfer of money or property to a permissible donee organization and for which the donor does not receive any benefit in return.

While there are many forms of tax-exempt status that can protect your organization from having to pay taxes on its net income, only certain organizations can receive tax-deductible contributions. Most of these “permissible” organizations have exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the tax code.
